The Internal Revenue Service and its partners will open nineteen Tennessee locations on Super Saturday, March 29, in an effort to reach those Americans who are eligible for the economic stimulus payment but who normally are not required to file an income tax return. Brooklyn Local News: Xaverian freezes tuition
The Board of Trustees of Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge has approved a tuition freeze for the 2008-9 school year. Through a series of aggressive and successful fund-raising efforts, the private college preparatory school halted the one-third increase in tuition for the upcoming school year. Xaverian President Salvatore C. Ferrera, Ph.D., said another factor contributing to the tuition freeze was the consolidation of three different programs. Tax rebate help Individuals who did not earn any income in 2007 but received a minimum of $3,000 in Social Security or Veterans Disability benefits are eligible to receive the economic stimulus package tax rebate. However, these seniors and veterans must file an income tax return with the IRS to receive the $300 tax rebate.
IRS Offers Help To Get Stimulus Check
WASHINGTON -- The Internal Revenue Service is working overtime this weekend to make sure everyone gets their rebate check from the government. This Saturday, some 320 IRS offices will open nationwide so that those who don�t normally file a tax return could get one-on-one help from an expert. For a list of the closest IRS office in our state, click here. The IRS estimates that more than 20 million retirees, veterans or low-income workers don�t pay federal income tax. This year, however, they�ll need to fill out a form 1040A if they want to get their stimulus payment. To qualify, people must have $3,000 in earned income and certain benefits from Social Security, Veterans Affairs Railroad Requirement. Just a reminder: if you�ve already filed a 2007 tax return or you plan to, you don�t need to do anything extra to get your rebate check.
